a broadcast in our schools
This was sent to me in an e-mail from a friend. This is true!
I talked to our principal at Zaharis- Mesa School District and he had just heard about this. He informed me that as soon as the district told him thier decision on the matter, he would be sending a letter home. He also told me that parents would be welcome to come view the Presidents address with thier child. This is becoming quite a heated topic. Check it out for yourself...
The broadcast will be shown Tuesday at 9am. As reported in the Arizona Republic, Tom Horne, the State Superintendent stated that he is troubled by the materials that were provided by the US Department of Education. Mr Horne stated; that the materials, "are too worshipful towards Obama and emotionally unsound."
On Tuesday, September 8, 2009 , President Obama will broadcast a speech in all public schools that will be mandatory for all children in attendance to watch. The contents of this speech or his reasoning for doing so remain a mystery! We as parents, have no idea what he will be presenting to our children or have any way to screen the content of his speech for things we may find offensive or objective. Our children will be forced to watch and then participate in post speech activities; praising Obama and being directed to consider ways they can help him reach his objectives....what ever they are! To counter this gross abuse of our trust, join us in the following proposal.
1. Keep your children home, from any school broadcasting this speech, on Tuesday September 8th. Doing this will show your school board, faculty, and President Obama we will not tolerate this.
2. While at home, consider watching, with your child, a segment of the "Making of America" seminar from the National Center for Constitutional Studies http://www.nccs.net org
reading together from the book "The 5000 Year Leap". The web site below gives the outline teachers are to use for preparing students, keeping them engaged, and follow-up activities for the speech
