I really like this cookbook. It is called-
"Wholesome Sugar-free Cooking"
It is an Amish compiled cookbook that is filled with family pleasing, good tasting recipes.
I still make some adjustments to some of the recipes that call for too much honey (I add applesauce in place of some of the honey). I like that the recipes contain whole food ingredients and natural sweetners. The back of the book also includes home remedy cures too.
You can purchase the book here:
Sometimes you can find new books on e-bay for a few dollars less. http://www.amishretail.com/wholesomesugarfreecooking.aspx
"Sigh-cho" Cindy
Our loving and thoughtful 15 year-old son lovingly named me this-in a round-about-way. At his birthday party the waiter asked him if I wanted a piece of cake. He said, "No, she's a little bit psycho about sugar." And so it stuck. My sister loved it and told me to change the spelling to "sigh-cho" for my blog. So there you have it and no I am not Psycho (only about sugar) :)

Master Lemon Cleanse
I am putting this up for myself....had to search though a few binders to find where I had written this down.
The master cleanse is needed when your body is really out of sync and the daily liver cleanse is not cutting it.
(I.E.- I have a terrible rash that has not responded to oils, benadryl, nettles, or anti-inch cream, so it must be internal. I am also taking large amounts of probiotics and 2 T liquid Chlorophyll).
Master Lemon Cleanse
4 T. Fresh/ freshly squeezed-frozen Lemon
2 c. Water
4 drops Lemon Essential Oil
4 drops Peppermint (Spirament for children, elderly or high blood pressure)
2 T. Grade B Maple Surup (Lots of minerals)
pinch- 1/2 tsp Caynne pepper (My friend just swallows a capusule)
Blend and drink a glass a day.
Note- this is not to replace food.
This is an interesting article about the master lemon cleanse.

Harriet Hamilton
Lecture on May 11, 2010
Harriet uses reflexology on bottom of feet to determine what hurts and therefore that part corresponds to areas of the body that need help. Then she uses kinesiology to determine what needs to be fixed first in the body. She starts with flow charts to figure out how various parts of the body work. Then she prays about it to find out if it is right. For example – Rosemary and sage are great for yeast and sugar control in body and for taking care of diabetes. Sage is best to remove yeast from the body.
Water can be acid or alkaline. 7.0 is normal. Need equal balance of acid and alkaline. Check pH in the morning, should be between 7.0 and 7.3. Litmus paper or pH paper is good for testing. Check first thing in the morning with urine. Greens are alkaline, as are most vegetables. Don’t eat fruit and vegetables at the same time. Eat fruit in the morning, vegetables at night. Don’t eat fruit at night – eat it in the morning. Kajan water is good and ionic machines are good. RO water is acidic, take pinch (1/8 t. baking soda) in 1 gal RO water. Check pH at room temperature. (Hot water is always alkaline, so check at room temperature)
Calcium – is essential for blood and body functions. Calcium needs magnesium and phosphorus to be assimilated. Then it gets to bones and blood cells. Normal dose for an adult is about 1200 to 1500 mg. a day. Calcium citrate is best for acid bodies to assimilate. HCPT calcium is for alkaline bodies. Calcium –you need full amount (about 1,200 mg.), magnesium need ½ the amount (600 mg.), phosphorus need ¼ the amount (300 mg.) per day.
Sugar – beet sugar, raw sugar are still sugar. Best is zylitol or stevia because they are non-glycemic. Zylitol does not have a bitter taste. Agave is OK in small amounts but does cause blood sugar to go up. Honey has enzymes that are healing but also causes blood sugar to go up. Honey and cinnamon are good remedies together. Honey never goes bad – use raw organic honey – local is best. Use zylitol as you would sugar. For allergies take 1 t. honey mixed with 1 t. cinnamon.
Salt – use Real Salt that has vitamins and minerals. Real salt is a more mild than regular salt. Regular salt is a heart attack waiting to happen. Himalayan salt is very best.
Cell salts or Bio salts need to get into cells. Take a pinch a day or eat celery to protect heart and heart functions. Left side of heart functions on sodium, right side on potassium
Oil - Canola oil causes cholesterol, clogs system. Olive oil – don’t heat because you lose benefits. Always use olive oil cold. Grapeseed oil is good for frying. Coconut oil is the very best. It stops the body from making cholesterol. Take coconut oil daily to lose weight. Coconut milk is excellent – it eliminates fat. Coconut feeds pineal gland.
Essential Fatty Acids Salmon, cod, krill, sardines, anchovies are best. Two good oils to use are Barleans lemon swirl and Nordic Naturals Omega 3. Both are from Alaska.
Omega 6 & 9 – from plants – flax is also good for producing fiber.
Omega 3 – fish oil – only oil that goes into blood brain barrior. Helps the brain.
Usually with fish oil take 1 capsules to 3 T. a day
Chia and Hemp Seeds -- Chia seeds take in place of fish oil or you can add hemp seeds to get Omega 3’s in diet. 2 T. hemp seeds are like eating a steak. Put 1 t. of chia seeds in water, set aside for 15 minutes and then drink. Good for the body and high in protein. Good sprinkled in salad. Chia seeds digest better if soaked first, but the lettuce in a salad will also soften it. Chia helps in colon to expels sugar and fats. Chia and hemp – don’t cook – just eat raw.
Protein – Animal protein, including eggs, go into the cells and stay for 10 days before the body sloughs it out. Plant protein goes in and out the same day. Plant proteins are so much better for our body. (Possibly eat meat every 10 days.) Fish moves out of cells a little faster – can eat it every 2 or 3 days.
Milk - The biggest problem we have with acid is from cow’s milk. Our body does not break it down. If we stay off milk we will be 50% healthier. Cream and milk have to separate from body to assimilate it. Raw milk, especially goat milk, is OK. Yogurt and kefir are good. Mountain High yogurt is one of the best. Do not use whey protein. Soy milk is better than whey protein. Goats milk is soothing for babies and does not hurt the body. Cows milk and cheese do not absorb in the body. Milk is absolutely no good for the body. Rice milk is not good for babies, but OK for adults. If you really like cheese, use it sparingly. Coconut milk is good.
Herbs – comes in many forms. Harriet prefers tinctures because pills loose half their properties during digestion in the stomach. Some herbs don’t come in a tincture. Tinctures give the best reaction in the system and use less of the herb.
Herbs are assimilated quicker in morning. At night they stay in the system longer. Tincture better than pills for digestion.
Appendix is filtering system for body. Adults can do without. Mostly used in children.
Lemon juice neutralizes acid in stomach.
Take rosemary before meals if you have no gall bladder. To neutralize acid in stomach take
1 t. vinegar 2 x a day, or
½ t. baking soda in 8 oz. water 2 x a day or take aloe vera juice.
TOP HERBS FOR EMERGENCY OR YEARS SUPPLY
Goldenseal – antibiotic – both viral and bacterial. Best one to use but use for 10 days only at a time. Up to 100 drop 2 x a day is safe. (sinus infection, etc.) Can hurt liver if used for long periods of time.
Oregon Grape – antibiotic – more versatile. Use for a month or two. Helps adrenals. Can use goldenseal and Oregon grape at the same time. One in the morning and 1 at night. Cleans blood – good blood purifier- and is good for adrenals. Possibly use goldenseal in morning and Oregon grape at night for 10 days.
Garlic – Antibiotic – mostly used for children. Usually used externally. Mix cut garlic in Vaseline and put on lymph system, on feet, etc. It will go right into the system.
Burdock – heart, parathyroid, and good blood purifier. Parathyroid helps the body absorb calcium and sends it to bones. (parathyroid is behind thyroid, but not part of thyroid and does not work with hormones)
Yarrow – spleen, blood purifier, kidneys, adrenals. Spleen is at bottom of rib and flushes liver and blood and keeps healthy so they make round cells.
Mullein – Bronchials, lungs (old Indian herb). Cleans and clears lungs (Indians would smoke mullein for bronchials or asthma)
Sage and Rosemary – Rids sugar out of the body, cleanses yeast, and is a blood purifier. Good for diabetes. All of your digestion takes place in the small intestines. Large colon is the exit for the body. Many times diabetes need to rid sugar from body and once it is cleaned out then the body can function the way it is supposed to – possibly take 3-4 pills 4 x a day – that will help with digestion and cleaning out of sugar in the body.
Cilantro – Great liver cleanse – comes in bulk, not in capsules – need to make your own capsules. The liver is the largest organ in your body next to your skin. Your liver can grow if a part of it is left. (celiac patients only function at 10% of their liver). If gallbladder is removed, add rosemary to help neutralize acid in the stomach before eating.
Ginger – Sinus drainage, blood purifier (carvacrol – herb that creates heat for healing). Also a blood purifier.
Cayenne – stops bleeding, internal/external blood cleanser, thins blood, prevents strokes, helps prevent heart attacks. Acts like Coumadin to thin the blood or coagulates the blood if needed. Good for ulcers. Coagulates blood in 6 minutes. (If baby is being born and mother is bleeding, give 1 T. cayenne to stop bleeding)
Eleuthro – Stimulant – good for Adrenals/Kidneys (helps give energy). Adrenals are on top part of kidney. Adrenals and kidneys are the filtering system for the body. Kidney failure is usually adrenal failure first.
Comfrey – Overall healer - heals all – Bone growth, nerve support. Comfrey root is stronger than leaf – use root if possible. (don’t worry about the note on comfrey that states “for external use only”. Very safe to use. Wonderful herb for all parts of the body.
Allspice – detox lymph, removes tumors and growth in breast. Lymphs keep poisons away from major organs. Grows breast size.
Rue – Destroys all parasites – eggs to adult parasites – best for adults
Cumin – Parasite cleanse – best for children
Nursing mother’s milk – marshmallow
Dill – kills parasites
