Our loving and thoughtful 15 year-old son lovingly named me this-in a round-about-way. At his birthday party the waiter asked him if I wanted a piece of cake. He said, "No, she's a little bit psycho about sugar." And so it stuck. My sister loved it and told me to change the spelling to "sigh-cho" for my blog. So there you have it and no I am not Psycho (only about sugar) :)

Migraines
This ia a great article that my friend sent me...maybe it can help you too!
Aromatherapy for Migraines
adapted from an article by Maeve
Migraine in its various forms affects an estimated 20% of the world's population. Migraine is a neuro-vascular reaction in response to sudden changes in the internal or external environment. The mechanism for the headache seems to be first a vasoconstriction -- a narrowing of the blood vessels created by some electrical-chemical disturbance -- followed by dilation or enlargement of the blood vessels at the base of the brain, which leads to a headache. Depending on the severity of an attack, it is apparent that most, if not all, of the body systems can be affected. Some of the effects of migraine include headaches, an observable hazy aura, sensitivity to light, sounds and smells, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, trembling, cold sweats and unsteadiness.
While there are many types of migraines, these are generally categorized into two groups: classic and common. The classic migraine begins with an aura or other type of visual, sensory or motor warning, and is followed by headache -- throbbing and unilateral. It is worsened by bright light, relieved by sleep, and associated with nausea and occasionally vomiting. In the common migraine, the aura is absent. The headache has similar features to the classic migraine but is often poorly localized and its description may merge with that of a `tension' headache.
Triggers
Migraine has been found to affect women more than men. In a survey of almost 1500 people in 1977, unilateral headaches with migrainous features were experienced by women more than men in the ration of 3:2. The triggers for migraine can be varied and include stress, hormonal changes, climate, trauma, hereditary factors, alcohol and (some believe) food. Mental or physical stress is by far the commonest precipitating factor. Emotional stress is a strong precipitant; in 50% of a random sample of patients, migraine began the first time ever during an emotionally charged period. About 60% of women who suffer migraines report that at least some of their attacks are linked to their menstrual cycles. The migraines usually occur just before or during menstruation. The decline of plasma estradiol appears to be the important trigger factor, however oral administration of estrogen replacements has been found to be generally ineffectual in warding off attacks.
Many migraine patients complain that the weather may provoke an attack, particularly an approaching thunderstorm or hot dry winds. High altitude is another factor mentioned in studies, with a significant history of migraine reported among airline crews. Other triggering stimuli include traumas to the head, glare or flickering lights, and certain noises or scents. Alcohol, particularly red wine, is well known as another trigger factor. All alcohol is a dilator of blood vessels in the human body; and it is thought that the high content of phenolic flavonoids that are produced during the fermentation of red wine could be regarded as a precipatory factor. It remains a controversial issue as to whether foodstuffs trigger migraine since the results of elimination diets have been reported as both positive and negative. But many people do consider their attacks are provoked by certain foods, particularly fatty foods, chocolates and oranges. Also, missing a meal often induces attacks, possibly as the result of hypoglycemia.
Energetics
Most physicians recognize that migraine sufferers tend to be compulsively neat and perfectionistic. Migraines develop in response to an attempt to control one's emotional reactions of anger, frustration and rage. The sufferer is trying to prevent an emotional explosion from occurring externally and thus, it occurs internally. The need to control is the major characteristic of people prone to migraines, whether it be control over another individual or control over a situation that he or she sees as threatening. Migraine is associated with the Brow or Sixth Chakra, which is concerned with intellect and understanding. Fears and insecurities that result in contamination of energy in this chakra are mainly negative behavioral patterns, e.g. fear of self-examination, fear in believing one is intellectually inadequate. An unwillingness to learn from life's experience, which leads to blaming others for what goes wrong in life, and an inability to learn from life's experiences are also common to migraine sufferers.
Migraine and Aromatherapy
In the management of migraine, aromatherapy is best used for prevention, because once a headache has set in many sufferers can't bear the smell of essential oils or being touched around the head. If the person can be touched, however, you can use a cold compress made with Peppermint and Lavender and place it over the forehead and temples, changing it often before it warms up. Also you can massage their temples, lightly, with Lavender. Sweet Marjoram can be used in a hot or warm compress on the back of the neck to aid the blood flow to the head.
Case Study
Following is a case study based on the premise that aromatherapy massage on a regular basis would be the best preventative measure for migraine. The 35-year-old female client was given 3 treatments over a period of 4 weeks with the intention to reduce the migraine attacks, to relieve any stress and anxiety, to overcome fear and frustration, and to instill confidence in order to procure any necessary change.
TREATMENT 1: Aromatherapy treatment using Angelica, Bergamot and Sandalwood essential oils. Angelica chosen as the main essential oil that will be used consistently over all of the treatments as it is an excellent essential oil for migraine. Intuitively Sandalwood and Bergamot were chose by vibrational connection between client and oil. The massage techniques used combined polarity, Swedish massage to the face, arms, back and back of legs, and reflexology on the feet.
Essential Oils
Angelica Root: -- Angelica helps people rediscover their own inner strength and stamina. By inhalation it aids those with an upset nervous system who urgently need to rebuild body and soul. Excellent for migraine, nervous fatigue and depression.
Bergamot -- Bergamot's psychological action stems from its ability to disperse stagnant Qi energy. Stagnant Qi can manifest as tension, irritability and frustration, and if never released can result in depression due to the accumulation of stress and repressed emotion. Bergamot oil encourages the release of pent-up feelings and it redirects nervous energy away from unproductive or addictive behavior, helping us to rediscover spontaneity and optimism. It helps us to relax and let go. It is effective both in inhalation and through application in massage, although it should be well diluted, and avoided by those with sun or other skin sensitivities.
Sandalwood -- Sandalwood's influence on the mind and spirit relate at a basic level to its cooling, calming and toning effect on the nervous system. It can be used effectively for hot, agitated states that lead to headaches and nervous exhaustion. It gives an inner strength that clarifies and stills the mind, refreshing an overheated body and returning it to a state where body and spirit can realign as one. Excellent as an inhalation, also useful in baths, lotions and massage products. Use with moderation, however, as Sandalwood is on the endangered plant list.
Results: The client felt good and relaxed initially after the treatment. Five days following, she felt unwell due to a virus, and migraine developed simultaneously.
TREATMENT 2: For the second treatment, Angelica was once again employed and the same massage techniques were applied. However, intuitively Grapefruit essential oil was chosen and used in the blend with Angelica. Sweet Marjoram was also intuitively chosen and applied on the lower back and 7th cervical.
Grapefruit -- Mainly considered for its diuretic, detoxifying and stimulating qualities. Also good for headaches. It has an ability to smooth the flow of stagnant Qi and benefits feelings of tension, frustration, irritability and moodiness by clearing psychological "heat" and congestion that result from deep-seated frustration and self-blame. Essentially cleansing, clarifying and refreshing it promotes a lightness of spirit and eases our hunger for immediate satisfaction and often desperate need to be "full". Used in massage oil by application.
Sweet Marjoram -- Marjoram has a calming effect on the nervous system and may be used for both chronic lethargy and nervous exhaustion. Inhalation is especially helpful for migraine in which tiredness alternates with tension and anxiety. It is restoring to the Qi of the spleen-pancreas, yet calming to the nerves. Relaxing, warming and comforting, Marjoram addresses itself to ease obsessive thinking and promotes the capacity for inner self-nurturing. It is also a renowned vasodilator. Used mainly by inhalation but can be added to massage blends.
Results: The client felt very relaxed after the treatment. She mentioned that her period was due and that she was expecting her usual migraine attack. She did begin to menstruate later that day, but her usual migraine did not occur then, or between the 2nd and 3rd treatments.
TREATMENT 3: For the last treatment, Angelica, Lavender and Peppermint were used in a blend, the latter two chosen intuitively. When the client arrived she was feeling tired and there was a dull ache on the left side of her head. The same massage techniques were followed as in the previous treatments. The only difference is that during the treatment, a cool compress of Lavender and Peppermint was placed across the brow, and was changed frequently.
Lavender -- Lavender is well known for its sedating and analgesic properties, and is useful for treating migraine because of its normalizing effect. It regulates and cools an overheated liver, relieving headache and migraine, and has a soothing and supporting action on the Qi of the heart, which is responsible for maintaining our overall mental-emotional equilibrium. Lavender has been described as `both habit-breaker and crisis smoother', and it can promote personal renewal, creating the strength that allows us to move on. It is suited to those full of creative potential, but who are frustrated in fulfilling it due to self-conscious reserve. Used by inhalation and application.
Peppermint -- Peppermint is especially useful for migraine related to digestive or hepatic problems. Energetically cool and dry, peppermint oil circulates Qi energy and works on the nerves and stomach. Its anti-spasmodic qualities and vaso-constrictor actions are important in the relief of migraine and tension. Used in massage blands and applied neat on back of neck.
Results: The results were excellent and could be seen almost immediately. The client felt relaxed and her headache was less severe. No migraine had developed by the end of the treatment. Some days later the client was feeling an equilibrium and felt very positive towards aromatherapy massage. Certainly the stress and anxiety were less obvious than in the first treatment.
Two other oils that could be considered in massage oil blends for migraine treatment are Roman Chamomile and Clary Sage. Roman Chamomile has a calming effect on people who are short-tempered and overly sensitive. It relieves nervous stress and helps us to let go of fixed expectations. It allows us to calmly acknowledge our own limitations and more readily accept help and support from others. It is good for headaches, hysteria and stress-related conditions, and relieves frustration, anger, insomnia, and nervous tension. Clary Sage is good for nervous tension depression due to its antispasmodic and analgesic action. It promotes estrogen secretion and acts on the pituitary gland, having a harmonizing effect. Like Marjoram, Clary Sage calms states of tension while reviving those of fatigue. It both strengthens depleted Qi, and relaxes and circulates Qi that is stuck. Its net effect is one of mental-emotional uplift, and euphoria -- for which the oil is renowned.

Migraines & Headaches
Why do I continue to have migraines, even though I try to avoid my triggers?
If you are like me I do not enjoy the feeling of a throbbing head, nausea, pain of light and noise. I have tried many essential oils that help others, but I have not found one that works for me.
Well, I am on a quest to become migraine-free or to at least find an essential oil that will help me-without feeling like the smell of the essential oil makes the migraine worse and makes me feel even more nauseated.
I have read through every essential oil description that I can get ahold of and this is the list of essential oils that are said to help with migraines.
Essential Oils for Migraine Relief- Or Headaches
Peppermint

Basil
Black Cumin
German Chamomile
Spiramint
Citronella

Does the Flu Vaccine Really Matter
I came across this very interesting article.-
"Whether this season’s swine flu turns out to be deadly or mild, most experts agree that it’s only a matter of time before we’re hit by a truly devastating flu pandemic—one that might kill more people worldwide than have died of the plague and aids combined. In the U.S., the main lines of defense are pharmaceutical—vaccines and antiviral drugs to limit the spread of flu and prevent people from dying from it. Yet now some flu experts are challenging the medical orthodoxy and arguing that for those most in need of protection, flu shots and antiviral drugs may provide little to none. So where does that leave us if a bad pandemic strikes? "

Difference between Cold and Swine Flu Symptoms
Difference between Cold and Swine Flu Symptoms
Cold
Fever-Fever is rare with a cold.
Coughing-A hacking, productive(mucus- producing) cough is often present with a cold.
Aches-Slight body aches and pains can be part of a cold.
Stuffy Nose- Stuffy nose is commonly present with a cold and typically resolves spontaneously within a week
Chills-Chills are uncommon with a cold
Tiredness-Tiredness is fairly mildwith a cold.
Sneezing-Sneezing is commonly presentwith a cold
Sudden Symptoms-Cold symptoms tend to develop over a few days.
Headache-A headache is fairly uncommon with a cold.
Sore Throat-Sore throat is commonly present with a cold
Chest Discomfort-Chest discomfort is mild to moderate with a cold
Swine Flu-
Most people that I have talked too have indicated that a tickle in your throat is one of the first signs- or sore throat-even though this list does not say so.
Fever- Fever is usually presentwith the flu in up to 80% of all flu cases. A temperature of 100°F or higher for 3 to 4 days is associated with the flu.
Coughing-A non-productive (non-mucus producing) cough is usually present with the flu (sometimes referred to as dry cough).
Aches-Severe aches and pains are common with the flu.
Stuffy nose-Stuffy nose is not commonly present with the flu
Chills-60% of people who have the flu experience chills
Tiredness-Tiredness is moderate to severe with the flu.
Sneezing- Sneezing is not common with the flu.
Sudden Symptoms-The flu has a rapid onset within 3-6 hours. The flu hits hard and includes sudden symptoms like high fever, aches and pains.
Headache-A headache is very common with the flu, present in 80% of flu cases
Sore Throat-Sore throat is not commonly present with the flu
Chest Discomfort-Chest discomfort is often severewith the flu.

· Children below 5 years
· Senior persons above 65 years
· HIV infected persons
· Diabetic patients
· Pregnant Women
· Lung & Heart patients
· Obese persons
Warning signs for children
Troubled or abnormal breathing
Bluish skin color
Lessened intake of water/fluids
Extended sleep or lack of interaction
Irritable
Fever with rash
Flu-like symptoms recede, but return with fever and worsened cough
Warning signs for adults
· Difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath
· Pain/pressure in chest/abdomen
· Sudden dizziness
· Confusion
· Severe or persistent vomiting
Seasonal flu vaccines or past immunizations DO NOT provide protection against the H1N1 virus- They will actually make you more suseptible to getting the swine flu!
* Persons infected with the H1N1 virus may be able to pass it on 5 days before symptoms develop and up to 7 days after infection.

What to do if you get the Swine Flu
This is what I did to help our daughter when it was highly suspected that she had the swine flu- She was 98% better within 16 hours of helping her.

All information in this packet is provided in an effort to empower you to be prepared to help yourself and/or your family to deal with the daily happenings of life. This information will also be helpful to be prepared to deal with unforeseeable or uncontrolled events, as well as events that have been prophesied in the scriptures. This information has not been approved of by the FDA, the AMA or any government agency and is not intended to replace the care of a physician or healthcare provider. It is also not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent illnesses or disease. All information contained in this packet is used at the consumer’s discretion and hold Cindy Sage harmless to the use of the enclosed information. I have learned much of what I know about essential oils, herbs and tinctures from Jacque Gurney, an invaluable teacher. I echo Jacque when she says; “Plant medicine is God-Given medicine. I know that it is not the plant that heals, but the creator’s power and his organization of elements within the plant that helps our divinely created bodies (with their own power from the creator) to use the materials that perfectly match the cells and body functions in order to make an environment where healing can occur.” Nothing in this packet will work effectively if we do not practice healthy nutrition, live healthy lifestyles, and follow the teachings of God and our Savior Jesus Christ. We must also, have faith, pray continually, learn to listen and follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost and learn to consistently ask for help from Priesthood blessings. Priesthood blessings should be our first line of healing from any emotional or physical
ailment. I know these things to be true and I say them in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
I cannot tell you what to do, but his is what I would do-
Flu Guide-Repeat every 15 minutes for 2 hours, then every 30 minutes for 2 hours,
then every hour for 4 hours, then 4 times a day for 10 days- (I helped Jennifer every
15 minutes for three hours)*The virus grows every 20 minutes you must stay ahead
of the virus!
****You must kill out the resistant bugs-treat for 10 days or it could come back with a vengeance!
Head- Apply-Temples-back of neck- Eucalyptus –if high fever- Lavender to calm. (I used Eucalyptus when temp was close to 102* and over night- The 1.8 cineole in eucalyptus oil will help keep the body from exceeding a safe temperature.)
Fever- Frankincense- controlled drop in temperature (This is what I used mostly)
If high temperature- Use Peppermint, or Eucalyptus Radiata- Will bring it down quickly-Watch so
they do not get chilled- Eucalyptus radiada can drop a 104* fever 4* in 5 minutes, if used in a bath- use caution!
Headache- Peppermint/ Lavender (calming) Apply Temples and back of neck. (I did not do this-was calm and not complaining of headache.)
Neck- If sore throat- Apply Dill or Tea Tree or diluted Spice blend topically to throat, jaw line and from ears to clavicle down jugular vein. Internally-(4 yrs. and older) do lick trick (put oil on back of hand lick
off and swish in saliva and then swallow slowly- (I only did this a few times with tea tree-topically.)
Mouth- Dilute Classic Spice 2 dram bottle fill 2/3 with olive oil add 6-8 drops spice traders. Kids and
elderly or those with compromised systems)- Drop 2 drops under tongue. Adults use 2-4 drops
under tongue. If too hot add more oil. Water is okay, but it will drive the oils in. Use more oil or
peanut butter to calm the heat. (Can add to apple sauce for kids). (I made up a lot- 1 oz bottle added 60 drops of classic spice and filled bottle with olive oil. You want it “bitey” but not too hot. I gave her 4-5 drops under the tongue following the acute treatment schedule. I also made up a 1 oz bottle of Olive oil and added 2 drops oregano and 2 drops Thyme-Mix well and put into the #1 size capsules. I had her take these twice a day- internally).
Chest- Apply 1-2 drops (preventative) Eucalyptus radiata or Ravensara (great for lungs) topically to
chest and/or back (if asthmatic). If sick Use 6-10 drops in 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Apply to chest over
lung area (or back if asthma issues). Apply Warm moist towel to area. (I put three drops (neat) of each of
Ravensara and Eucalyptus oil and spread it over the chest area (can dilute into olive oil to help spread it) I am doing this following the acute helping schedule.)
Tummy issues- Topical application- Drop 1-2 drops tummy rub in hand and rub onto tummy and
bowel areas. Internally- Use capsule-add 1-2 drops Oregano and then fill with olive oil. Take 1capsule and then repeat in 4-6 hours. Continue as needed. (We did not have this issue.)
Feet- Apply 1-2 drop on each big toe. Ravensara, Classic Spice (dilute for kids-2/3 bottle olive oil to 6-8
drops oil), oregano (dilute 1 oz olive oil to 2-3 drops oregano). If sick increase amount Adults- 3-6
drops. Kids- 3 drops. (I used the 5/8 dram bottles- they only allow 1 drop out at a time- I filled 2/3 of the bottle with classic spice/spice traders- the rest with olive oil and then put 4 drops on each foot over the lung area- the pad just below the toes).
Hands- Apply 1 drop Lemon oil, rub hands together, then rub hands over mouth and nose- creates a
barrier of protection. Repeat as needed- Use as you would hand sanitizer. (I did not do this with my sick child but the rest of us were doing this.)
Dehydration- 1 drop orange oil in water. Rehydration drink- To 8 oz cool water add ½ tsp sea salt,
¼ tsp baking soda and 1 drop orange essential oil. (I did not get to this point. I gave her juice and water with one drop orange and 1 drop peppermint)
Emotional –Apply Geranium or lavender- to clothing, wrist or onto pillow. (I diffused Purify blend in the diffuser.)
Diffuse oils- 10 drops Ravensara (pneumonia), 5 drops lemon (kills germs), 5 drops lavender (heals
lung tissues). Diffuse up to 10 minutes. 3-4 times a day. Can also rotate in between- diffuse
classic spice, use smaller amount-4-5 drops (can burn eyes if too close). Eucalyptus radiata, and
lemon. (I diffused Purity in the diffuser- I love this diffuser it has a timer so I was able to run it all night- find it
here. http://www.addictedtooils.com/ I also used the car diffuser too.
Spray surfaces every few hours- Mix in 16 oz bottle of water 10 drops Lemon, 5 drops orange, 5 drops
Ravensara and 5 drops lavender. (Can add Thyme, Oregano, Rosemary.) Dishwasher, dish water, Laundry- add lemon oil or Eucalyptus globulus-to soap to kill off bacteria. (I add all the above oils to my spray bottle and classic spice/spice traders-just for good measure-I sprayed everything down. I took out the towels out of the bathroom and replaced it with a paper towels. I would spray everything down in the bathroom after she used the bathroomincluding her hands.
Vitamins- I have my family on a muilti vitamin, calcium/magnesium, Vitamin C (1000mg over 12- 500 mg under 12)
Vitamin D3 (2,000 IU under 12 and 5,00Iu over 12), Omega 3, bee pollen. It has been recommended that 27 mg per pound be given for vitamin C (up to 120gr to kill influenza and 35 Iu’s per pound of body weight for vitaminD3). (I gave Jennifer 500mg vitamin c with every acute helping schedule for the first day, then just twice a day after that. I also gave her and extra 4,000iu of vitamin D3 for the first day and then I give her and extra 2,000 at night- I will continue this for the 10 days.) Do not work about getting too much vitamin D3-even though it is water soluble- Dr. Mercola explains why...
Some also worry that if they are in the sun that they will overdose on vitamin D.
However this is not typically the case, and here’s why: When you’re exposed to the sun, the UVB rays cause vitamin D to be produced in your skin while the UVA rays in the sunlight will tend to destroy excessive levels of vitamin D circulating in your body. It is somewhat of a natural failsafe mechanism that prevents overdosing.
HOWEVER, please understand that about 10 percent or more of the people reading this needs significantly more than 5,000 units. I have seen people requiring over 30,000 units of vitamin D a day to reach therapeutic levels of 25 hydroxy D in their blood..
Ionic Sliver- I forgot about this- I gave her 2 tsp 3 times a day starting the second day. This is like antibiotic-Kills out the good and bad bacteria. Give yogurt or probiotics to replace the good bacteria.
Oscillococcinum- This is a homeopathic flu remedy that does not have a taste (according to Jennifer) and dissolves in your mouth. You can find a coupon link and more information at my blog. http://sigh-chocindy.blogspot.com/2009/10/natural-treatments-for-flu.html I have given this to Jennifer when she was feeling bad at the beginning.
You can give a bath with spice traders, eucalyptus or other oils; mixed in Dead Sea salt- The bath will pull out toxins. I did not do this but you could do a regular bath, a foot bath or use a bowl of warm water and add the salt and oil and have them put their face over the bowl and then cover their head with a towel- so they can breathe the vapors. You will need to watch them carefully so they do not get chilled.
I put all of my oils that I applied topically into the 5/8 dram bottles- easy to apply without the risk of spilling. I put my Classic Spice blend and my oregano and Thyme blend into dropper bottles, so I could just drop it into their mouth or fill capsules (Always put oregano into capsules!)
Everyone that was not sick gets the same treatment but twice a day- Spice traders under tongue and an oregano capsule, Spice traders or Ravensara on feet, and vitamins twice a day. Since I was treating I took extra vitamin C and spice traders. I also sprayed myself down with my surface cleaner when I went into my sick room and when I came out. We also do this whenever we come home from being in the public. There are so many more things you can do it you are not seeing improvements. Feel free to e-mail me. I do have a more in depth help guide send me an e-mail if you want that.
*As a side note…I was gone yesterday and Jennifer did not get one of her treatments and got one late. Last night she
had a slight fever again. I gave her extra vitamin C and D and continued the oil treatments. Her fever is gone again. This tells me that this is a serious strain…keep up with the 10 day regimine
You must use a theraputic grade essential oil to get the same results that I did, Essential oils purchased at a health food store will not be theraputic grade, even if the bottle is labeled as such! Essential oils are not regulated. Even if the bottle says 100% it can only contain 45% of the oil. Know your source. Two companies I like are-

Essential oils are not regulated. Even if the bottle says 100% it can only contain 45% of the oil. Know your source. Two companies I like are-

Swine Flu
I am really amazed at how contagious this swine flu is...It hits you like a brick! It is inevitable that you will not be exposed to it. So you will need to take extra precautions to keep your environment as clean as possible.
Dr. Mercola offers this great advice as to how to proctect yourself against the flu- I would follow this guide and I would also be using Essential Oils. Essential oil help the body to build up the immune system and offer a barrier of protection (remember the stories of the spice traders in 1918 that did not get sick because they has spices around them to offer a barrier of protection? ). Essential oils also stop the virus from progressing further if you do get sick without adding side effects of flu medicines. Basic things like putting spice traders or Ravensara on your feet twice a day, putting a drop of eucalyptus on your chest, and carrying a bottle of lemon oil with you to rid your hands and face of germs and created a barrier of protection, is a great place to start. This does not take alot of time, but it will offer protection. My brother-in-law got into a motorcycle accident and we coated up with lemon. Doctors offices and hosptials are the worst place to be if you wan to not get sick...if you have to go then make sure you have oils on. My kids laugh at me, but they ask for the oils too and remind me to use the oil spray before coming into the house. Even using the oils you still might get sick. Even using the oils you still might get sick...However, everyone that I have heard from that use the essential oils have knocked the flu out in 12-16 hours (those that have gotten the flu shot are still taking 2 weeks to get over it-even witht the oils). Our daughter Jennifer got sick, we were able to knock it out in 16 hours...However, you must treat for 10 days to kill out the stronger part of the virus. I missed one dose and Her fever started coming back-that just tels me how bad this swine flu virus really is. Don't be fearful. Just be prepared with your oils and Dr. Mercolas advice...

How to Protect Yourself Against the Flu Without Vaccination
Following these simple guidelines will keep your immune system in optimal working order so that you're far less likely to acquire the infection to begin with.
Optimize your vitamin D levels. This is one of the absolute best strategies for avoiding infections of ALL kinds, and vitamin D deficiency is likely the TRUE culprit behind the seasonality of the flu -- not the flu virus itself.
This is probably the single most important and least expensive action you can take. I would STRONGLY urge you to have your vitamin D level monitored to confirm your levels are therapeutic at 50-70 ng.ml and done by a reliable vitamin D lab like Lab Corp.
If you are coming down with flu like symptoms and have not been on vitamin D you can take doses of 50,000 units a day for three days to treat the acute infection. Some researchers like Dr. Cannell, believe the dose could even be as high as 1,000 units per pound of body weight for three days.
However, most of Dr. Cannell's work was with seasonal and not pandemic flu. If your body has never been exposed to the antigens there is chance that the vitamin D might not work. However the best bet is to maintain healthy levels of vitamin D around 60 ng/ml.
Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods. Sugar decreases the function of your immune system almost immediately, and as you likely know, a strong immune system is key to fighting off viruses and other illness. Be aware that sugar is present in foods you may not suspect, like ketchup and fruit juice.
Get Enough Rest. Just like it becomes harder for you to get your daily tasks done if you're tired, if your body is overly fatigued it will be harder for you to fight the flu. Be sure to check out my article Guide to a Good Night's Sleep for some great tips to help you get quality rest.
Have Effective Tools to Address Stress . We all face some stress every day, but if stress becomes overwhelming then your body will be less able to fight off the flu and other illness.
If you feel that stress is taking a toll on your health, consider using an energy psychology tool such as meridian tapping techniques, which is remarkably effective in relieving stress associated with all kinds of events, from work to family to trauma.
Exercise. When you exercise, you increase your circulation and your blood flow throughout your body. The components of your immune system are also better circulated, which means your immune system has a better chance of finding an illness before it spreads. You can review my exercise guidelines for some great tips on how to get started.
Take a Good Source of Animal-Based Omega-3 Fats. Increase your intake of healthy and essential fats like the omega-3 found in krill oil, which is crucial for maintaining health. It is also vitally important to avoid damaged omega-6 oils that are trans fats and in processed foods as it will seriously damage your immune response.
Wash Your Hands. Washing your hands will decrease your likelihood of spreading a virus to your nose, mouth or other people. Be sure you don't use antibacterial soap for this -- antibacterial soaps are completely unnecessary, and they cause far more harm than good. Instead, identify a simple chemical-free soap that you can switch your family to.
Use Natural Antibiotics. Examples include oil of oregano and garlic. These work like broad-spectrum antibiotics against bacteria, viruses, and protozoa in your body. And unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, they do not appear to lead to resistance.
Avoid Hospitals and Vaccines. Hospitals are prime breeding grounds for infections of all kinds, and could be one of the likeliest places you could be exposed to this new bug. So unless you absolutely have to go to the hospital for a medical emergency, avoid it.
Keep in mind that virtually all vaccinations will LOWER your immune system (this is the main job of the vaccine adjuvants), NOT make it stronger!

Acne
Acne is not good at any age...Teenagers seem to have more than thier share. Essential Oils can help to combat this unsighly, painful problem.
I know the liver cleanse is our go to for most every probelm...but we need to detox first. Clean our bodies from the inside out. Just do it.
Then apply equal parts Tea Tree and Lavender essential oils (NEAT -straight out of the bottle). I mix this is the 5/8 dram bottles -works great. No spills, or excess waste...dispenses one drop at a time.
Eat a healty diet, avoid sugar and processed foods : ) I know this can be difficult, but your face and body will thank you later.
Thyme is the big guns in Acne treatment. Dilute! Thyme is another hot oil. Mix 1 drop into 10-20 drops message oil (olive oil or others) apply topically to break outs. Can also be used internally in capsules-use 2-3 drops in a capsule and fill with message oil. Take 1 capsule-2 to 3 times a day until blemishes subside.
Dill oil is known to speed the healing of acne blemishes. Ally topically and dilute if needed.
Mix up your own face wash and use it every night before bed. In a jar add 2 cups warm water add, a pinch of salt dead sea salt, 5 drops of tea tree, 2 drops of rosemary, and 1-2 drops lavender essential oil. Mix well. Wash face well adn dry with a clean towel.
Acne can also be caused by hormone imbalances. Liver cleanse and use Mood magic for women .
Acne can also be cause by parasites in our system that over loady iur bodies with toxins. Parasites grow in cycles so treatment must used over a period of time to kill off all of the parasites. Ginger taken internally in a capsule is effective in parasite treatment. In a capsule apply 5 drops of ginger and fill with message oil. Take one capsule three times a day for one week. Rest a week and then repeat the cycle two more times.

Eczema
Eczema
Google Health describes ezema as a chronic skin disorder that involves scaly and itchy rashes Eczema is due to a hypersensitivity reaction (similar to an allergy) in the skin, which leads to long-term inflammation. The inflammation causes the skin to become itchy and scaly. Long-term irritation and scratching can cause the skin to thicken and have a leather-like texture. Eczema is most common in infants. The condition tends to run in families. People with eczema often have a family history of allergic conditions such as asthma, hay fever, or eczema.
The following can make eczema symptoms worse:
Dry skin
Exposure to environmental irritants
Exposure to water
Stress
Temperature changes
What can you do to treat Ezcema?
The first step would be to examine the diet and exercise. Rule out food allergies. Then begin a healthy diet free from excess sugar and processed food that contain addivitves, preservatives, colorings and more... Then begin eatting healthy whole grains (if there are no allergies) fruits, vegetables, healthy oils and keep hydrated with clean water. Exercise with help to increase circulation.
Essential oils can be an effective treatment for Ezcema and dry skin conditions. Some ezcema conditions are cause by an autoimmune response. If you think this may be the case then do the liver cleanse daily. Even children can do the liver cleanse. It may seem strong at first but you will qickly get used to it. It may take a year or more for the healing from the inside to take place. It has been said that it can take one month for each year that a person has had a skin problem before results will be achieved. Do not give up, be in it for the long haul. The liver cleanse is essential in improving skin probelms.
It is important to also note that the ezcema might get worse due to the fact that the toxins will be being pulled to the outside of the body. When beginning to treat with essential oils begin treating on the feet, due to the sensitivity of ezcema or allergy patients. Treat the flare-ups with diluted essential oils directly on the skin.
It will be imporant to keep the skin hydrated. Use calming essential oils like Lavender, Chamomile, and Geranium. Essential oil blends like, TLC, Quescent, Emotionally Sound, Attentive or Peace. Add these oils to lotions or message oils (like olive oil or coconut oil) and then apply after washing hands or showering.
Although baths are frequently said to be kept to a minmuim, baths containing essentail oils can elp to pull out toxins and calm irritated skin. Use warm water as hot water can cause more skin irritations. Always mix essential oils with dead sea salt and then add to the warm bath water (to avid the oils burning the skin). Use 10 drops of any of the calming essential oils or use a blend.
For inflamed areas, mix 3-4 drops of essential oils in an ounce of message oil.
Tea tree can also be effective.
Oregano can also be an effective treatment for ezcema. However, oregano is extremely hot! Always dilute with message oil. Dilluted oregano can be applied topically to outbreaks 2 times day. If irritation occurs the oregano can be taken internally in a capsule 2 times a day.
Impetigo
The above treatment can be used to treat impetigo. Google heath identifies impetigo as a contagious skin condtion marked by a single or possibly many blisters filled with pus; easy to pop and -- when broken -- leave a reddish raw-looking base (in infants)
Itching blister:
Filled with yellow or honey-colored fluid
Oozing and crusting over
Rash -- may begin as a single spot, but if person scratches, it may spread to other areas
Skin lesions on the face, lips, arms, or legs, that spread to other areas
Swollen lymph nodes near the infection (lymphadenopathy
Impetigo is caused by streptococcus (strep) or staphylococcus (staph) bacteria. Methicillin-resistant staph aureus (MRSA) is becoming a common cause.
The skin normally has many types of bacteria on it, but intact skin is an effective barrier that keeps bacteria from entering and growing in the body. When there is a break in the skin, bacteria can enter the body and grow there, causing inflammation and infection. Breaks in the skin may occur with:
Animal bites
Human bites
Injury or trauma to the skin
Insect bites
Impetigo may also occur on skin where there is no visible break.
It is most common in children, particularly those in unhealthy living conditions.
In adults, it may follow other skin disorders or a recent upper respiratory infection such as a cold or other virus. It is similar to cellulitis, but it only involves the top layers of the skin.
Impetigo is contagious. The infection is carried in the fluid that oozes from the blisters
Since impetigo is contgious you will want to apply treatments using a cotton swab or cotton ball and then throw away the supplies used.
Oregano is very effective in impetigo and ezcema treatment s but always dilute to avoid burns. Blend 2 drops to 1 oz of message oil. Treat topically and internally (in a capsule) to kill out the condition. To minimize the contagiouis factor add 3-5 drops of oregano to soaps and shampoos and shake well to avoid unequal distribution of the essential oil.
My friend has a daughter that has a bad case of exzema-
This is what she says to try-
She rotates through the soothing oils-dilute Lavender, Lemon, peppermint, birch, and Quiescent blend.
She uses bath salts to sooth, orange is a great one, check for alleriges first. She uses lemon and peppermint in bath salts to detox. To 1/3 cup of dead sea salt add 6 drops of oil. Use a 3-1 ratio.
She also has her daughter on a good probiotic and muilti-vitamin. She likes Sprouts chewable Primedophius for kids.
She also recomends food allergy testing. Most eczema is related to food allergies like, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat or nuts. Most children with eczema are deficent in minerals. The dea sea salt contains minerals.
She recomends using bath salts every other day. If you cannot put your child into a bath, use a foot bath.
Coriander essential oil helps to pull out the heavy metals in the body.

Great Herb For Female Hormone Balancing
Vitex- Chaste Berry
In a recent class that I attended, taught by Jacque Gurney, I learned about a herb, that many of the women swear by, called Vitex or Chaste berry. Vitex has been studied and found to be helpful in regulating hormones. I am trying it to see if it will help in regulation my hormones so that I can hopefully avoid my monthly hormonal migraines and cystic ovary problem. I have only been taking it for a few days, so I will have to give an update when I know if it actually helps me. The bottle does note that for the first 12 weeks to take 1 capsule 2-3 times a day and then go to one a day after the 12 weeks. As with most natural remedies it says the Vitex works gently and best results obtained with continuous, long-term use. Additionally, the bottle says that Vitex is widely used to promote overall health and balance in a woman's cycle. Inexpensive, especially if it works!

Great Herb for Allergies
I learned about this great herb, from Jacque Gurney, that helps to chill out the allergy symptoms. It is inexpensive and is called Nettles. There are many different brands. (I will ask her which brand she likes best.) I bought the one that has 900mg per capsule. The first time I tried Nettles was at Jacque's house and did not know that she has two cats (so allergic to cats). Jacque gave me two Nettle capsules and I did not even get a runny nose. Amazing! (I have been doing the liver cleanse for quite a while so I'm sure that is helping too). Jim has taken Nettles and has relief from hhis runny nose too.
This is what the bottle says- Nettle leaf (Urtica dioica) contains organically bound inron, cholorphyll, vitamin C and carotene. The herb is a nutrtive tonic tradittionally used to balance both upper respiratory health and the unrinary system.

Natural treatments for the Flu
My new friend Shari Lyons told me about this natural Homopathic remedy for the flu. I picked some up at the Good Apple. (2 pack special $16.99). I do not think it hurts to have a variety of measures in your medicine cubboard. I am greatful to have my oils, but...I may feel prompted to give this a try. Not everyone will react the same.
From Shari - "In keeping with the flu season theme today, I want to share my families secret for never experiencing more than 24-48 hours with the flu. This is a product that is given by prescription in Europe for treatment of the flu and has absolutely no side effects. It has worked the 2 times I can remember having the flu in our home in the last 8 years, and it has knocked out the flu in no more than 2 days. But I have recommended it to many who also experienced the same results! When the bird flu was so publicized I had a pretty good stock onhand and ready for the fight...luckily it has a 5 year shelf life so we are stocked and ready for whatever comes of the H1N1 "pandemic".
It can be found at just about any grocery store, sprouts, walmart, walgreens, any many more places. Click here for a $2.00 off coupon!
Here is a little more info from their website:
Clinical Studies on Oscillococcinum
Oscillococcinum has been shown in clinical trials to help reduce the severity and shorten the duration of flu symptoms.1,2
Oscillococcinum works rapidly, with 63 percent of patients showing "complete resolution" or "clear improvement" at 48 hours.*1 In a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, the recovery rate within 48 hours of treatment was significantly greater in the group that received the active drug than in the placebo group.
Unlike other flu medicines, Oscillococcinum does not cause side effects, such as drowsiness, and has no known or reported drug interactions. Oscillococcinum is regulated as a drug by the FDA and can be purchased at pharmacies, natural food stores and supermarkets.
Make sure to keep Oscillococcinum on hand because it works best when taken early. Take Oscillococcinum at the first signs of flu-like symptoms.
Good Things to Do if You Get Flu.
1. Keep Oscillococcinum® readily available.
Oscillococcinum (Oscillo®), one of the world's most popular natural flu medicines, can reduce the duration and severity of flu-like symptoms when taken at the onset of symptoms. It is safe for both children (older than 2 years of age) and adults.
2. Stay hydrated.
When you are feeling under the weather, drinking extra fluids prevents dehydration caused by fever, loosens mucus and keeps your throat moist. Warm liquids are preferable, and there is some evidence that inhaling steam early in the course of a cold or flu may reduce the spread of viruses in your upper respiratory tract.
3. Listen to your body.
If you do come down with a cold or flu, take it easy. Spending excessive energy steals valuable resources from your immune system. Even attempting to perform normal activities at work or school may be too much. Besides, if you believe you're coming down with flu, probably the best thing you can do for friends and family is to not expose them unnecessarily to the virus.
4. Stay away from sugar and processed, foods, especially fried, and junk foods. Grandma was right by cooking up a homemade batch of healthy chicken noodle soup with plenty of vegi's.

Prevent addiction to pain medications by using pure, natural, safe ways to manage pain from the gifts of plants with natural plant chemical constituents, without dangerous side effects.
Birch
95-98% methylsalicylate (aspirin) – Excellent for Bone pain (deepest pain), arthritis, etc. Two thoughts in aromatherapy – because it’s so high in methylsalicylate, Europeans say not to use Birch – due to fear of over-dosing on aspirin. Others know that if you learn to use Birch responsibly it is powerful blessing for deep pain conditions. If you have very thin skin you will absorb more – thus using Birch with infants, elderly and in pregnancy is cautioned unless diluted at 75% or more. Never used long-term. Birch has the tendency to bring mineralization to areas where applied, thus broken bones heal much faster with Birch. Many people enjoy brushing teeth with 1 drop Birch – once or twice per week. Helps with tooth pain especially when used with Clove.
Cypress
So gentle, Cypress can be applied straight (though infants and the elderly would dilute with Grapeseed (Message) oil 50/50) . It is excellent for all Circulation conditions, varicose veins (prevents needing to have veins stripped with continual application), great for massage when you want circulation increased. Important for Diabetic pain and diabetic neuropathy (numbness in feet and in other exremities), for the elderly or infirmed who are bedridden, or in cyanosis (blue) conditions. Excellent in massage oils and in Dead Sea Salt blends to use in the bathtub to increase circulation!
Lemongrass
From India – the finest we’ve ever found! Relieves pain, ligaments, tendons, all connective tissues. Good for athletes who tense up; acts as a sedative for the nervous system to prevent injuries (relaxes). Works well in cellulite formulas, and kills warts (some warts also require Helichrysum). For warts, dilute if they are spread over a large area dilute because Lemongrass strong and could be hot on skin undiluted. Lemongrass is being studied for its use in combating cancer, thus could be included in cancer formulas and in pain formulas for cancer.
Marjoram
(sweet) Soothing, warming, very Gentle - Used by ancient Greeks in many medicines. Good for Rheumatic pains, strains, is a nerve tonic, has great antispasmodic properties, hypo-tensive (lowers blood pressure). When body is tightened (muscles) is helps to relax. Good for all spasms conditions – menstrual cramps, coughs, colic, helps with asthma, aching or overstretched muscles (athletes), tight back muscles, etc. Wonderful for massage – as it messages the body to relax, thus also great in Dead Sea Salts as an addition to a bath formula for aching bodies and to prepare to sleep better.
Cairo Care
Begin treatments with Cairo Care – and end with it – due to its ability to prepare and open the spine to receive treatments – connecting brain to body and all spinal nerves. Excellent to use prior to chiropractic treatments, and following chiropractic treatments to hold the treatment and help the body to remember the new muscle/bone position. Can be applied to spinal reflex point of the feet (along the arch from the great toe to the heel)
Fysical Thera P
Anti-inflammatory, anti-pain, anti-hematoma (blood clot prevention), use post-surgery, helps prevent addiction to pain medications due to pain relief). Has large quantity of Helichrysum. Excellent for bruising, for aches, for Rheumatoid conditions, for any trauma to the tissues from falls, hits, bumps, stretches. A great essential oil blend for athletes to carry in their bags, for workers who could be injured and for every first aid kit!
Dead Sea Salts
Premium grade mineral salts from the southern region of the Dead Sea, containing the perfect balance of calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium to balance the human body and to enhance healing of every kind – especially when essential oils are added for the specific condition that you are trying to correct. Always add the essential oils to the Dead Sea Salts before you add them to the bath water, or they will cling to the tub instead of attaching to the body and working to chelate illness/pathogens, pain conditions or emotional conditions.
