Our loving and thoughtful 15 year-old son lovingly named me this-in a round-about-way. At his birthday party the waiter asked him if I wanted a piece of cake. He said, "No, she's a little bit psycho about sugar." And so it stuck. My sister loved it and told me to change the spelling to "sigh-cho" for my blog. So there you have it and no I am not Psycho (only about sugar) :)

Enlarged Prostrate
Prostrate enlargement is a problem for many men over the age of 50. I cannot tell you what to do, but this is what I would look into if I had a family member with this problem.
FreqenSea... is great product. made by Forever green. Start with 4 oz a day and then go down to 2 oz. daily. (In some people it may take a few months to really notice a change when taking the Freqen Sea, due to your bodies nutrition and overall health).
This recipie is good for most men with enlarged prostrates. Be sure to see a doctor too. Do not take any essential oils with perscription medicines, it can alter your perscriptions. Use essential oils two hours before or after taking medications. Spiramint can be subsituted for Peppermint. Large doses of Peppermint can raise blood pressure.- It will... my Dad's blood pressure was increasing because he took his liver cleanse with his blood pressure medications...Not good folks!
Combine-
Frankincense
Lavender
Myrrh
Helicrysum
Cypress (does the man have cancer? or blood clots? if he does skip this one. You do not want to disloge a blood cloth or move around cancer. Cypress =circulation),
Peppermint
1 ounce of message oil
Use a rectal Implant three times a week. In a couple of weeks the prostrate should be smaller in size.
( I would use equal parts or read each ones benefits and see if he needs the help of one more than the other...)
How do you do a rectal implant? I did not know either! I consulted my expert friends...
This is what Jacque suggested about renal implants...(Thankfully I do not have experience here, but I will refer to this if I need to...)
"I cannot tell you what to do - but I can tell you what I do. When I do a rectal implant I use the 2 oz glass dropper bottles. I make a formula and put into one bottle, then the other bottle is just for a "clean" replacement after the implant while the other dropper is being sanitized. Lay on your back, with rear tilted upwards. Insert the dropper with the essential oils mixture in it very gently and at the specific angle where there is no irritation or pain. Empty drops and hold the position to absorb the oils - several minutes. When finished, wash the glass dropper thoroughly, then put it into the empty bottle (the clean one went onto the bottle with the blend in it).. I hope that this helps. The Saw palmetto is very specific for prostate - and the Cypress is very good to put topically over the lower region (prostate region) for reduction of congestion. Hope this helps! It's important to not eat sugar too - as the body must rid the sugar through the urine - so don't encourage it to work harder trying to process the sugar. Jacque
Amy would do it this way...
"A rectal implant can be done by filling a capsule with oils and placing it as far in the rectam as possible. If hot oils are being used be sure to include message oil."
Another condition that men can have probles with is-
Prostatitis-
From Mayo Clinic-http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/prostatitis/DS00341
Prostatitis, a disease of the prostate gland, can cause pain in the groin, painful urination, difficulty urinating and related symptoms. The prostate gland produces components of semen, the fluid that helps support and transport sperm. The gland, about the size and shape of a walnut, sits directly below the bladder and surrounds the urethra, the tube that transports both semen and urine to the penis.
Essential oils to use for Prostatitis -
In a dropper bottle combine
10 drops Eucalyptus radiata
10 Drops Cypress (see above)
5 drops lavender
5 drops Thyme ct. thymol
2 Tbsp message oil
Combine well, label your bottle. Apply to the lower abdomen, lower back, and around the scrotum. Apply several times a day.
Herbs-
Use caution with Herbs if you take prescription medication for BPH or prostrate cancer.
Nettles root
"May inhibit growth of prostrate tissue, and clinical trials have provided compelling evidence that therapeutic use of the root may improve the urinary symptoms associated with disorders of the prostrate gland, such as frequent urination and weak flow. Dose- Look for capsules that contain up to 6 g of dried nettle root per day- take as the bottle indicates.
Saw Palmetto-
Clinically proven for prostrate problems. dose 160 mg in capsule form, twice a day."
Reader's Digest Herb Book
These are really good articles too...
http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/15/78.cfm -This is a good article.
http://www.ehow.com/way_5171691_herbal-remedies-enlarged-prostate.html
"Prostate inflammation is not only a main cause for overall discomfort, but it can make urinating difficult. St. John's wort as well as lavender and rosemary essential oils contain properties that increase blood circulation to the area that they are applied. By enhancing the flow of blood to the enlarged prostate, inflammation will slowly decrease, which will reduce the amount of pressure on the urethra. To make an anti-inflammatory oil, mix half a teaspoon of lavender essential oil and half a teaspoon of rosemary essential oil. Combine the ingredients with 2 oz. of St. John's wort oil and stir for one minute. Wash hands to ensure they are sterile and generously massage this solution directly to the skin between the anus and the scrotum. Massage twice per day, once in the morning and once before bed for inflammation relief."

Lice Treatment
Lice is not a fun thing to find on your childs head. We have had lice, twice at our house ( kept it to only once child- a major feat as the school nurse says most families all get it). Well I decided to post about what I learned to help others (My poor sister called me frantic this morning, as her daughter has it). She needs help!
You will need.- DO NOT Buy Over The Counter Supplies- Does not work!
Lysterine (generic is okay too)
White vinegar
Shower cap or Glad press and Seal- this stuff is great!
Cloth Bandana
Terry cloth head band
Metal lice & nit combs (do not buy plastic- Will not work!)
White kleenex
Rat tail comb
Hair clips to sectio off hair
Upon finding lice- Do not cut thier hair! So tramatizing. NO NEED Really!
COMBING LICE OUT OF HAIR AS THE ONLY TREATMENT WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE!!!! Missing only one egg or tiny lice will cause a huge infestation! If you treat it hard and fast you should be able to knock it out in a day or two!
Pull up your hair into a pony tail. Your head will be itching-just the thought makes my head itch. Do not itch your head! Clean your hands really well with tea tree soap. using a nail brush.
At some point in the day please call everyone that you or your child has been in contact with. It may be embarrasing, but they need to catch it if they have it or your child could get it back from them. It is easier to treat when it first starts.
1. Pour lysterine over the childs hair fully saturating the hair and rub in scalp. DO NOT GET INTO THIER EYES! Gather up hair in pony tail holder and either use the shower cap or Glad press and Seal. Cover hair. Cover shower cap with bandana and then secure with terry cloth headband. (Keeps lysterine from running into the eyes.)
*Put sheet on couch and put a movie on for the child to sit still. You will need to leave the Lysterine on for a minumium of 30 minutes up to 1-2 hours to kill the lice.
2. Check the rest of the families head. Treat anyone that you find. (You will treat everyone in the family that night, regardless if you see lice -see below) Check the back of the neck and around the ears. WASH YOUR HANDS REALLY WELL after each person, scrubbing under your finger nails. Lice eggs and new lice are soooo small-smaller than 1/4 of a ground black pepper.
3. You will need to vaccumn everything. Wash all bedding. Start with the person with lice's bedding. Wash in hot water and add white vinegar. Vaccum thier matrass too. Don't forget to vaccumn the car too. Couches...etc. Anything that the child may have been on.
* You can also mix up a spray bottle of water (distilled is the best) with 20-30 drops of Tea Tree essential oil (or other E.O.listed below-or a combination of E.O.). Spray onto surfaces, car seats, couches, etc. I am sighcho-cindy so I even sprayed my kids clothes down when they would come home.
4. Bag up anything that you cannot or do not have time to wash for 4-6 weeks. Lice die if they do not have a host.
5. I left out only a weeks worth of clothes for the infected child so I could control what I had to wash.
6. Every morning I would wash thier bedding again. I had the child sleep with the shower cap on and covered thier pillow with a towell, until thier were no more lice.
* I kept the childs head covered (at all times!) with something (like lysterine, coconut oil conditioner, tree tree shampoo, olive oil, or white vinegar) and the shower cap, until I knew they were lice free.
7. When you are ready to rinse out the lysterine, use tea tree shampoo.
8. Now you need to cover the hair in white vinegar. Replace shower cap and bandana and leave on for 1-2 hours. The white vinegar loosens the glue on the hair shafts.
Schools have a no nit policy. Which means the child cannot have any nits (empty lice egg shells) in thier hair. To be able to go back to school.
9. Now you need to go section by section and use the metal comb to comb each thin section. I used a white kleenex to wipe the comb onto so I could see if I was getting anything. If I did I would go over that section of hair a few times.
10. After the combing wash hair again with tea tree shampoo. You can blow dry the hair. Lice do not like heat.
11. Braid hair or put up into a bun. Apply liberal hair spray. Lice do not like hair spray either. (Hair spray and using tea tree shampoo, is a good school and church option to avoid lice).
12. Repeat head check on everyone over the next few days. Repeat lysterine, tea tree, vingear process as warrented.
13. I boiled everyone's hair brushes and then kept them in a ziplock with thier name on it. No sharing brushes.
This process works great. I switched eveyone in the house to tea tree shampoo and coconut conditioner. For the next 6 weeks.
Important!!!!!
As a Preventative for everyone in the house!I also treated everyone in the house with an olive oil treatment every few days (Apply the same as the lysterine and cover over night with a shower cap.) Do not even bother with the over the counter lice treatments. Harsh chemicals and the lice are resistant to it.
Why the Tea tree and other essential oils work when over the counter lice treatments do not. Essential oils (depending on the E.O.) contain hundreds of chemical constituents that have been identified by scientific methods (and many more that cannot be identified). All of these chemical constituents make it very difficult for the lice, bugs, bacteria, virius, etc. to become resistant to the Essential oil. However, the over the counter and prescription lice treatment s only contian a few chemical constituents, so the lice can quickly become resistant.
E.O that are effective with lice-Rotate through the different oils if using more than two weeks.
Tea Tree
Eucalyptus & Rosemary-combine a drop of each in a dolp of shampoo.
Cedarwood, Pine, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus citradora, Geranium, Lemongrass, Spiramint. Add a few drops to your shampoo.
Ginger root or Thyme- hotter oils, always diute.
6 drops Thyme to a bottle of shampoo.
After washing with any of the above E.O. and shampoo combinations, run 5 drops of lavender oil, undiluted or diluted with oilve oil (or carrier oil) and rub through hair and scalp. Rinse if you like or leave in.
If your child has an extreme case I will use all of the items on the list below!
1. Lysterine
2. tea tree shampoo
3. Coconut conditioner
4. Olive oil
5. White vinegar
Start with the first listed item. Apply to hair as listed above. Shower cap, bandana and leave on for 1-2 hours. Rinse out with tea tree shampoo and apply the next item. Continue until you end with the white vinegar. Comb out as listed above.
*If you are too tired as I was I left the coconut conditioner on the hair over night and then continued in the morning.
Another way to get rid of the lice in one treatment is to color your hair. (I have not tried this but the school nurse says it works.) You will still have to comb the nits out of the hair.
Lice Prevention
Do not share combs, brushes, hats etc...
I am a mean Mom I guess but I do not use my combs and brushes on any of my kids. (I do not let them drink out of my cups either...If I get sick I still have to take care of everyone).
Put your childs long hair up every day and use plenty of hair spray.
Use tea tree shampoo.
*A lice expert once told us that she thought the alcohol (26.9 percent) in Listerine was toxic to lice. The herbal oils found in Listerine (thymol, eucalyptol, menthol and methyl salicylate) may also contribute to the effect.
Please e-mail me or call me if you need clarification...really! Boy is my head itching just writing this! So sorry you are having this trial!

H1N1- Shedding
H1N1 Shedding?
What is that? Well shedding is the term used to explain what happens after a person recieves the "live" shot, Flu Mist, or has the actual H1N1 flu. I have hear about this a while ago, but I decided I had better do some investigating since the MPS school district, Fire Department and Maricopa County Health Department are giving out the H1N1 shots this Tuesday, Dec. 8th, at Skyline High School. I called and they will be giving out both the shot and the Flu Mist nasal spray. What does shedding mean to those of us who are not getting the shot? A person that gets the H1N1 shot will be "shedding" (or are a carrier) the virus. This can happen from 7 days (shot) or up to 21 days for the Flu Mist. This is true I read it in the Flu Mist and Flu shot "confidential" papers that are contained in the shot paperwork (the stuff they do not bother giving you to read or that you do not read because you are not getting the shot so why read it.). Also, if someone is sick with the H1N1 flu, especially children, they will be "shedding" the virus for upto 7 days after thier fever stops, in thier saliva, pooh, and the stuff that sprays out of thier mouth when they cough. LOVELY!
This is what the Flu Mist packet says:
"At least one vaccine strain was isolated from 80% of FluMist recipients; strains were recovered from 1-21 days post vaccination."
So what to do? There is more you can do but here are my thoughts as a minimum.
#1 boost up your immune system.
#2 Avoid sugar (lowers your immune system for 5 hours after you eat it).
#3 Vitamin D3 35Iu per body weight, per day.
#4 Wash your hands often.
#5 Apply Essential oils to boost your immune system at least twice a day. More is not better so no more than every 4 hours. Spice blends, Ravensara, Eucalyptus, Lemon. and more are good ones to use.
read more about ways to use them here.
#6 Avoid close contact with others. If you cannot, then protect your self with Lemon oil. Learn more here.
#7 Protect your home base and car. Carry a mister bottle and spray your self when ever entering your home base. Or use a diffuser in your home or a car diffuser.
This may seem a little crazy, but I for one want to keep my family healthy in the midst of all the shedding that will be occuring due to the media craze to get the shots!
You could get the shot, but I do not find that to be an acceptable answer either. Read more here. Mercury, Anti- Freeze and more. Do not get me started with this while get the shot if you are pregnant media thing!
The shot information indicates that no testing for the saftey of pregnant women has been done.
Infact, this is what the Shot information says!
-----------------------USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS-------
Information in this section is based on seasonal trivalent Influenza Virus Vaccine manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur Inc. (Fluzone vaccine).
Safety and effectiveness of Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine have not been established in pregnant women or nursing mothers or children <6 months of age. (8.1, 8.3, 8.4)
Antibody responses to Fluzone vaccine were lower in the geriatric population than in younger adults. (8.5)
Flu Mist packaging says-
-----------------------USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS------------------------
• Safety and effectiveness of Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine Live, Intranasal have not been studied in pregnant women or nursing mothers. (8.1, 8.3)
More great information to know if you are Breast Feeding-
8.3 Nursing Mothers
It is not known whether Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine Live, Intranasal or FluMist is excreted in human milk. Therefore, as some viruses are excreted in human milk and additionally, because of the possibility of shedding of vaccine virus and the close proximity of a nursing infant and mother, caution should be exercised if Influenza A
(H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine Live, Intranasal or FluMist is administered to nursing mothers.

Help for the Common Cold
Why do we have to be miserable every winter? Stay away colds!
Dr. Mercola shared an imteresting and cost effective way to combat a cold. I have not tried this, but he says that many have had sucess using 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to treat colds.
Another treatment that is surprisingly effective against upper respiratory infections is hydrogen peroxide.
This is what Dr. Mercola had to say;
"My patients have had remarkable results in curing the colds and flu within 12 to 14 hours when administering a few drops of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into each ear. You will hear some bubbling, which is completely normal, and possibly slight stinging.
Wait until the bubbling and stinging subside (usually 5 to 10 minutes), then drain onto a tissue and repeat with the other ear. A bottle of hydrogen peroxide in 3 percent solution is available at any drug store for a couple of dollars. It is simply amazing how many people respond to this simple, inexpensive treatment."

Stiff Neck
Pain in the neck!
Torticollis or stiff neck can be a painful condition that can last a long time. Most of the time, if you are like me, then you do not even know why it is that you can only move your neck to one side. Causes can include quick movements, poor posture, exhertion and poor posture when sleeping. (You may need better pillow support.) Usually a stiff neck is a harmless condition that will go away in time. However, if you have been sick or have other symptoms, like a fever, then you may need to seek medical help as this can be a signal of a serious proplem. If it were me I would try using Essential oils. Essential oils can offer relief for a stiff neck.
Essential Oils
Two great essential oils to try are Cario care, to retrain muscle memory and then Fysical Thera P will help with the pain and stiffness
Other oils to try –
Apply a drop or two (more is not better) topically to the area. Apply two to three times a day. A carrier oil like Jojoba, coconut, massage, or olive oil can be used to cover larger areas. Use 1-2 tsp of carrier oil and add your drops to the oil.
*Ease
*Basil and Marjoram.
*Myrrh –inflamed muscles.
*Coriander- tones muscles and helps with stiffness, aches and pains.
*Dill- Helps with tension and pain.
*Fennel- Sore muscles. (Contraindicated in people that have sezures.)
*A blend of Rosemary, Basil and Helichrysum can help to alieviate strained or torn muscles.
*Sage- Eases stiff muscles and particularly fibrositis and torticollis (stiff neck).
Application-
Direct application. (Dilute for children.) If stinging occurs then add a carrier oil to the site to dilute the oils. Water will drive in the oils.
Apply the oils and then use a warm compress or water bottle to the site. Find microwavable compresses here.
Soaking in a bath can help to relieve pain and stiffness. Add essential oils to Dea Sea Salt and then add to your bath.
