The first thing that you and your family should be doing is strengthening your immune system.
To do this you need to do the basics that you already know about, but do not do religiously… (we all get lax, but now is not the time of year to fall short…unless you want to get sick!)
*Bulk your diet up on healthy whole grains (soaked first), fruits and vegetables (as close to how God created it as possible).
* Take your vitamins and minerals, probiotics, and especially, make sure that you are taking vitamin D3.
* Avoid processed foods and sugar. Sugar turns off your immune system for you to 5 hours after you eat it…Really!
*Protect yourself with essential oils. Apply Ravensara, Eucalyptus radiata, or Kids Wellness to your feet every morning to boost your immune system and protect your lungs… I rub a drop onto my chest in the morning. (Use cautions with asthmatics…apply to the feet or back…DO NOT GET NEAR FACE AS THIS CAN TRIGGER AN ASTHMA ATTACK!) *Read more about diluting essential oils for babies, children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems!
* I know I swear by it but it works! Grapefruit tea… (find the recipe here). We drink this any time we come home from a public venue were people are hacking it up…Grapefruit is cheap and inexpensive and it works!
*Diffuse you’re the air in your home to kill bacteria and virus as your family comes home… Don’t forget to use your car diffuser too.
So you are already having a problem…
RSV or Respiratory Syncytial Virus-
RSV is an airborne virus that attacks the lungs and respiratory system. RSV usually affects infants but can affect children and adults, is usually not as serious and causes cold like symptoms. RSV is very serious because it can quickly turn into bronchitis or pneumonia and result in hospitalization.
This is what Mayo Clinic defines RSV as:
“Signs and symptoms of respiratory syncytial virus infection typically appear about four to six days after exposure to the virus. In adults and older children, RSV usually causes mild cold-like signs and symptoms. These include:
Congested or runny nose
Dry cough
Low-grade fever
Sore throat
Mild headache
A general feeling of unease and discomfort (malaise)
In severe cases
Respiratory syncytial virus can lead to a lower respiratory tract illness such as pneumonia or bronchiolitis — an inflammation of the small airway passages entering the lungs. Signs and symptoms may include:
High fever
Severe cough
Wheezing — a high-pitched noise that's usually heard on breathing out (exhaling)
Rapid breathing or difficulty breathing, which may make the child prefer to sit up rather than lie down
Bluish color of the skin due to lack of oxygen (cyanosis)
Infants are most severely affected by RSV. They may markedly draw in their chest muscles and the skin between their ribs, indicating that they're having trouble breathing, and their breathing may be short, shallow and rapid. They may cough. Or they may show few, if any, signs of a respiratory tract infection, but will eat poorly and be unusually lethargic and irritable.
Most children and adults recover from the illness in eight to 15 days. But in young babies, infants born prematurely, or infants or adults who have chronic heart or lung problems, the virus may cause a more severe — occasionally life-threatening — infection that requires hospitalization.
When to see a doctor
Most cases of respiratory syncytial virus infection aren't life-threatening. Still, seek medical advice for a child, older adult or other person at high risk who experiences any of its signs and symptoms.
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences difficulty breathing, runs a high fever or turns blue in color.”
Please read the blog about essential oil cautions if you are not familiar with essential oils.
Essential oils can be used with over the counter medications, herbal, homopathic and Prescription medications, but you need to observe a two hour window. Take medication 2 hours before using essential oils or two hours after using essential oils.
Dr. Poenel’s French Intensive Method-
Apply the oils every 15 minutes for 2 hours, then every 30 minutes for 2 hours, then every hour for 4 hours, then 4 times a day for 10 days- *The virus grows every 20 minutes you must stay aheadof the virus!
****You must kill out the resistant bugs-treat for 10 days or it could come back with a vengeance!
Ravensara essential oil is one of the best anti-viral oils to use for all respiratory issues.
Ravensara and Kids wellness (a blend of: Thyme ct linaool, Ravensara, Eucalyptus radiata, Tea Tree and Lemon) are especially good to use with RSV. Apply to the bottoms of the feet (safer, faster method and the liver does not have to process the oils) and chest, diffuse into the air and use in Dead Sea Salt in the bath.
*With infants- Have the baby lay on the mother’s chest in the bath. Soak for at least 20 minutes. A great blend is 1-2 cups of salt. To the salt add 10 drops Ravensara, Kids wellness, and eucalyptus radiata. Mix and add to bath water (otherwise the oils will not mix with the water).
Other Oils to use include- Tea Tree, on the back and feet.
Rotate oils to diffuse- Tea Tree, Exchange, or Peppermint (never diffuse in the same room with small children or babies or apply to face or neck -breathing difficulties or death can occur.)
If this is a serious condition and Tea Tree oil is not helping then use Rosemary ct. verbone. Dilute at least 50% and apply to the feet.
In the early stages of illness Dill oil can help with respiratory and digestive problems and will boost immunity.
Chest decongestant- Combine Dill, Eucalyptus radiata, and Lemon oils into message oil (dilute for age), then apply to chest and back.
Great oils for respiratory issues-Singles-
